Positive Behavioural Support Implementation Strategy

Community of Practice & Presentations

Following on from our previous history of hosting an Active Support CoP (link below), we were proud to host our inaugural PBS & Active Support CoP on January 30th, 2024 and our second on October 10th, 2024. The third is scheduled for Spring, 2025.

Our mission is to increase the prevalence and enhance the quality of PBS in North Wales.

We believe that some of our key ingredients to make a successful day are:
• Face to face
• Stories from experts by experience
• Stories from local service providers
• Presentations from local and National experts
• Engagement session
• Networking opportunities

It is important to us to make these events as informative and helpful as possible and we are always keen to hear any feedback or suggestions for future events at LDTransformation@flintshire.gov.uk

An Introduction to PBS by BILD is a short animation - just six minutes long – that gives an overview of PBS and how PBS approaches work in practice when supporting an individual. This animation was created by a small group of academics and researchers, practitioners and parents, trainers and facilitators and people with a learning disability who are passionate about improving the quality of people’s lives.

Active Support Information & Documents

It is important to remember that with the right support, most people with a learning disability can lead independent lives.

Active Support is a way of working that supports individuals to take part in activities they want. It supports people to gain skills in independent living, and help people have a good quality of life.

Active Support is about engaging people in their own lives – doing with and not doing to.

Here Dr Julie Beadle-Brown talks about Active Support.
